Generally, I am not a fan of Chuck Schumer, but I must say in this case he has it exactly right. This is just another example of government gone wild, doing things that don't make sense only because they appear to be either politically correct or popular. Apple and the publishers are right to say that their deal, far from inhibiting competition, promotes it. Much as I love Amazon and Kindle, Amazon can not be allowed to simply dictate the pricing of publications and it can't be allowed to put publishers out of business without permitting them to price their own products.

Hope you have the courage to publish my view on your web page. My intent is always to offer something that resonates with everyone to accomplish a solution rather than just bitch. Not easy to do.
To start, my anger about our Congress, Senate, Supreme Court, banking system, Federal Reserve, or our military industrial complex fills an infinite space. All brought America to where we are right now. Oop’s forgot the key players that thing called the electromagnetic spectrum loaded with journalist, reporters and local and International money that drives the payroll for hate radio, sedition cable and right, left wing satellite with reports intended to steer the public, all failing to really educate the public.
Many of the difficult problems had been developed by intentional legislative catastrophes deliberately done way before Obama’s time. What jumps out at me is the comment by Nancy Pelosi one time saying. “We won’t know what is in the health care bill until we vote for it.” To me that transcends time and politics showing the convoluted false positives spewed out in regular mainstream media. Plain and simple legislation built with political bombs for advantage.
As a corporate person, you should know there was a time when my idol was Reagan for General Electric. That notion progress was the most important product just made me want to work for them to help the success. Now, bewildered, companies with legions of lawyers to address tax advantages because they are people? They are, but a lot more than little old me. Who is broke in the middle income scale. Living pay check to pay check. According to the Supreme Court since I don’t have money, can’t say much! Unless you help me now. Don’t get me going on the telephone industry. It went from can you hear me now, to can you help me now. There isn’t too much of that out there.
My vision is for a new level of Internet. One based on the communications using direct connection fiber optics. Also, key player is the Post Office with every American connected by fiber to the Post Office. All legal, corporate, medical, legislative, small business activities, the stock market new better ways to have stock ownership and especially, because of its importance say it again, especially education. The caveat “no porn”, Leave it on the so called free market.
Just as Lincoln is considered the father of the Union Pacific Rail road and saved America, or Roosevelt out of the depression world war II, Eisenhower the father of the modern interstate highway system, Kennedy for the man on the moon. We need a project like that. Obama is target aiming for a great project for the October Surprise. Who knows, Newt may even get to go to the moon. LOL.
